Braden King is is the co-director and producer of the 1998 feature documentary, Dutch Harbor: Where the Sea Breaks its Back, made in collaboration with filmmaker and photographer Laura Moya. A lyric examination the life and landscape of an Aleutian Island community off of the west coast of Alaska, the film toured internationally with live soundtrack accompaniment by the critically-acclaimed Boxhead Ensemble and went on to screen in over twenty major International film festivals, including the Rotterdam Film Festival, The Margaret Mead Film Festival, The DoubleTake Documentary Film Festival, The London Film Festival, The Dublin Film Festival, The Singapore International Film Festival, The Melbourne International Film Festival and more.

King has directed music videos and / or visual live concert accompaniments for Tortoise, Dirty Three, Low, Brokeback, Sparklehorse, Ken Vandermark and Paul Lytton, Tren Brothers and Giant Sand, among others. He has also directed several short-subject documentary films on the the Jungle Brothers, Steve Malkmus, Roni Size, Yo La Tengo, Cee-Lo and Super Furry Animals for Atomic Pop, Sony Online Entertainment and CIRCUIT DVD magazine. His works have been screened by the BBC, The Sundance Channel, MTV, and the U.K's Channel 4, among others.

Currently, King in post-production on the feature-length tour film 1000 Miles: Dirty Three Live, covering the last two North American tours by the Australian band, and Looking for a Thrill: An Anthology of Inspiration, a DVD project commissioned by Thrill Jockey Records. (This "compilation of inspiration" features over five hours of stories and interviews with the majority of the Thrill Jockey Records roster, plus appearances by Bjork, Mike Watt, Thurston Moore, Jem Cohen, Vic Chesnutt, Kurt Wagner, Ian Mackaye, Steve Albini and many, many more). Finally, King is also finishing the script for his first feature narrative film, currently entitled HERE, with Australian writer Dani Valent. The film is now in development with American Splendor producer Julia King (no relation).

King recently lectured at the Yale University School of Architecture's Moving Landscapes / Capturing Time symposium and has also taught workshops and master classes at the Dublin Film Festival and for the Aleutian Arts Council. He has received grants and / or sponsorships from ILFORD Photo, HHB Communications, The Illinois Arts Council, The Aleutian Arts Council and The Community Film Workshop (Chicago).
