Joe Ferguson co-founded Truckstop Audio Recording Company with Braden King and Michael Krassner in the mid-nineties. In 1998, he took over management of both the Truckstop label and recording studio in Chicago. Since then, Truckstop Records has released over 20 albums, including CDs by Pinetop Seven, Simon Joyner, TW Walsh, Central Falls, The Lofty Pillars, Scott Tuma, Matt Marque, Terminal 4 and others.

In many cases, Ferguson has also manned the boards as recording engineer. In addition to many Truckstop releases, he has lent his engineering talents to various recordings by Califone, Chicago Underground Quartet, Boxhead Ensemble, Glenn Kotche (Wilco), Dirty Three, Mick Turner, Deanna Varagone (Lambchop) and Bird Dog, among others.

Ferguson has spent time as a musician playing with Edith Frost, Deanna Varagona, The Lofty Pillars, Boxhead Ensemble and Simon Joyner.

More recently, he has taken his recording gear and hit the road, documenting some breathtaking live performances by Boxhead Ensemble, Dirty Three and Califone in various parts of the world.

Finally, Ferguson has just finished his first record as producer, for emerging Chicago (and Truckstop Records) artist Matt Marque. He is now starting work on his own full-length CD.
